Courageous by Randy Alcorn - Book Review

Courageous
by Randy Alcorn -

Based on the screenplay by Alex Kendrick and Stephen Kendrick the creators of Fireproof.

Courageous pulled me in from the first page and didn’t let me go until the last. It is a story of men who face danger daily on the job and then come home to their families and forget they are fighting a battle for the souls of their children.

Unfortunately, it takes a fellow officer’s tragedy to wake them up to the value of their own wives and children.

The commitment they make to each other and to their families is an example we can all follow.

This isn’t a book of perfect men, but men who are tempted as we are. The difference? They choose to glorify God, by making the effort to reconnect with their spouses and children even though they would rather zone out at the end of a hard day.

Their desire to live to glorify God makes all the difference in their lives.

When a fellow officer gives in to temptation and is caught, his fellow officers don’t condone what he did, but they support him and his family as a testament to their love.

I received a copy of Courageous from Tyndale House Publishers.

As I write this, Courageous is on sale for $8.84 from Eternal Perspective Ministries.

Courageous was written as a novel to supplement the screenplay by Alex and Stephen Kendrick. Visit the Courageous blog here.

Courageous will be in theaters September 30. Here is a preview of the movie:
